Community Space Smíchov opens a new
gallery of contemporary art Till the End of Times.

The new gallery space in Smíchov presents a year-round exhibition series about forms of care. Step by step, we uncovered local artists of the contemporary visual scene. Authors from art schools, professionals and creators exhibited their works, which told a story about everyone of us, and carried a unique idea of what different concepts of care could look like.

The project was supported by the Prague Municipal City Hall and State Cultural Fund of the Czech Republic.

The theme of the first exhibition was The Soul thinks the Man acts and was dedicated to the impact of today's world on our psyche, imprinting itself and often weakening us. Self-care has come to the fore over the past few years, and is more exposed than ever. Today's world throws an overload of demands at us, with streams of information, instructions and tips on how to live one's life. However, it is important to be able to switch off and focus on ourselves sometimes, on our needs, on what our soul wants.

The second exhibition from the The (In)visible Hand of Care series, entitled Even though I know I burn Something's freezing me , continues the theme of care with a focus on the history of the given place, sourcing from the bond to a specific area or building and the stories that surround it. The genius loci and the themed relation of a place and its energy is essential. The history and spirit of the place, which speaks to us from every corner of this church, is combined with the personal mythology of David Čumalo. The object of care is the church itself.

The third exhibition called Close Ones presented the theme of family and interpersonal relationships. Our family and friends are an inherent part of our lives. The exhibition worked with several techniques of visual art with the goal to show the formative aspect of family life and what it all means.

The fourth exhibition Feel the Community presented works of young authors and collectives whose activities draw attention to what is happening in communities given, including the problems they face. The care for these communities, as well as the lack of it, raises a question of what we – as a society – can do for them. The communities presented are: Ukrainian, queer, ethnic, student and artistic.

The fifth exhibition And yet it's spinning? introduced works touching the meaning of environmental issues and sustainability. The artists criticized established progression, yet they offered possible alternatives and inspired to think about human actions. Their work encourages a more responsible approach to the environment, whether it is using environmentally friendly and natural materials in their creations, changing perceptions of these issues, or supporting to sustainably grow your own vegetables and fruit. The exhibition brought diverse perspectives on sustainability in the present and the future through contemporary art.

The sixth exhibition Transfiguration focused on the current economic, environmental and social conditions that influence the appearance and form of the human body. The exhibition reflected on physical health and the transformations of human existence and showed how this phenomenon affects individuals.
